Era Training Center LLC (Era Training Center) announced today that it has obtained CFR part 60 Level 6 qualification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its AS350 B2 Flight Simulator Training Device (FSTD). The AS350 FSTD, built by Frasca International, Inc. (Frasca), offers an exact cockpit replication. This is the second advanced Level 6 FSTD acquired by the Center, with the earlier 2008 qualification this year of its EC-135 CPDS P2+.
“This is an important achievement for Era Training Center (ETC), especially when we have seen an increase in interest in training services for industry-wide safety and excellence such as those offered by ETC. Quality training is more important than ever to operators and regulators,” said Paul White, General Manager of Era Training Center.
Frasca performed all aspects of the project including flight testing, model development and certification. Era Training Center provided the helicopter for flight testing as well as aircraft, pilots and subject matter expertise.
"This AS350 Level 6 FSTD is a technically advanced simulator with features that allow substantial training and testing to be moved from the aircraft to the safer environment of a simulator. Level 6 qualification requires extremely realistic simulation of the aircraft,” said John Frasca, Vice President of Frasca. “To achieve this fidelity, Frasca and Era Training Center performed an extensive flight test regime of the aircraft. The digitally recorded flight test data was then processed and used to validate the simulator’s performance. The simulator also includes an extensive visual system with a 220 degree field of view. A debrief station is also provided to allow the entire recorded simulator flight to be reviewed.”
Located at Lake Charles Regional Airport, Era Training Center offers a diverse array of training programs for corporate aircraft operators, medical flight services, airborne law-enforcement personnel and other rotorcraft professionals.
